The first CASA Ambassador in Towns County is Edie Kleinpeter, who is taking charge of A Garden of Fashion, a May 21st fundraiser for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children). The show will take place at the Mountain Presbyterian Church in Blairsville. A CASA Ambassador is a volunteer who supports this child-centered program in her county. Kleinpeter, who is best known for directing plays at the Peacock Playhouse, is taking on a new directing job. She has gathered top-notch help to make this a fashion showluncheon to remember. Two of the best dress shops in Towns County, Britt and Capri and BodySense, will present what's new for summer.
Valla Kohlman of Murphy is creating an original story narration for the show. Carol Smucker will entertain with piano music. Pam Roman, who had her own catering business, has volunteered to cater the luncheon along with Kathleen Holt. Karin Kleinpeter, a professional artist, is painting some items for door prizes, and Dottie Warnke, who was a wedding planner in Miami, will be decorating the Mountain Presbyterian Church parish room to make the show a glamorous afternoon of fun and fashion. The Mountain Knitters are donating a hand-made sweater coat for a silent auction item. The Knitters have made hand-knit sweaters for every foster child in Towns and Union County this past winter.
CASA is a national organization of volunteers who try to see that children don't get stuck in the system and advocate for whatever services the children need. The goal is a permanent and safe home for them.
Tickets for the fashion show and lunch are $15. Ten dollars are deductible. You can purchase tickets at Britt and Capri or BodySense. You can also call CASA at 1-706-864- 0300, Diana Smith at 706-379- 1431, or Edie Kleinpeter at 706-896-4380.
