Stolen vehicle recovered during routine traffic stop

On May 09, 2008, Captain Mark Henderson stopped a vehicle for failure to maintain lane and ended up recovering a stolen vehicle and arresting a fugitive from two states.

The driver was initially charged with driving with a revoked license and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The truck turned out to be a stolen vehicle from Tennessee and the driver, identified as Michael Tucker from Chattanooga, Tennessee, was wanted in both Florida and Tennessee for multiple felony charges, including theft by taking an automobile, larceny (theft) over $1,000, as well as several other theft-related charges.

The case is being investigated further due to items found in the vehicle, which are suspected to be stolen property. Tucker faces charges in Georgia for transporting the stolen items into the state. Tucker is currently being held at the Towns County Detention Center and, after facing his charges in Georgia, will be extradited to the other states to face his charges there.
