James Stephens to perform at The Old Courthouse in Blairsville

By popular demand, James Stephens will perform at The Old Courthouse on the Square in Blairsville.on Friday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m.

James Stephens grew up in the Florida panhandle town of Marianna. There was always music in his home and he began singing at an early age.

James lived and worked in Chipley, Florida during his adult life. There he started singing in his church, for civic organizations, private parties and at varied school functions. He traveled and sang with a southern gospel quartet for several years. He has been a frequent entertainer at senior citizen centers and nursing homes.

He started vacationing in Blairsville in the early 1980's and was soon singing at the Hiawasee Opry at the Old Log Cabin and at Coosa United Methodist Church. Five years ago, he moved to Blairsville to live full time. He continues to sing at his church, for weddings and funerals. Union County Nursing Home and Brannon Lodge are two of his favorite places to perform. James also sings for the OASIS program at the First United Methodist Church.

The summer concerts are presented by the Union County Historical Society as a public service and to keep alive the tradition of music in The Old Courthouse. There is no required admission charge, however voluntary donations to the maintenance fund are always welcomed and appreciated.
