Girl Scouts First aid and Heimlich Maneuver for Choking

The Daisies and Brownies joined together on April 4, 2008 to practice some of the requirements that they needed to work on towards earning their badges. First the Brownies acted as victims of a bus accident and the Daisies arrived to save the day with their first aid skills. The Daisies put on bandages to stop bleeding and put splints on broken limbs. They also practiced listen to the victim's heart.

The girls then exchanged places and the Daisies became choking victims and the Brownies practiced the Heimlich Maneuver and basic CPR on them. Each girl also had a chance to use a blood pressure cuff and listen to each others hearts with a stethoscope.

Each meeting is opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Girl Scout Promise, and Law. We then sing a couple of songs, do our activities, play a game and then end our meeting with a Friendship Circle . Every other week the Daisy Scouts join the Brownies and they do the openings and closings together. Both group of girls really enjoy doing things together.
