Towns County Shooting Team Does It Again!

The Towns County 4-H BB shooting team AGAIN shot their way to the upcoming State Championships. Last weekend (4/19/08) in Walton County, Monroe, GA the 4-H

BB Shooting Team sent 2 teams to the district matches. 24 teams shot all day in different relays, all vying for the coveted slots at the state championships, shooters having to shoot a certain score to qualify.

Shooting Coach Rob Stoneham stated Towns County shooters have been practicing for the last 4 months in preparation for the matches. Along with their rifles, the 4-H BB shooters brought their parents and a lot of enthusiasm as they earned their way to the state matches, again, as several of our kids shot exceptionally high scores. Coach Stoneham stated that these are a great bunch of kids that have worked really hard to get this far and Towns County should be proud of them.

8 coaches from the Chatuge Gun Club, all of which are NRA certified firearms instructors have donated their time 3 days a week for the last 4 months getting the shooters ready for the matches. Coaches are A.T. Sorrell, Dazy Perry, Chief Mitch Floyd, Bill Wendel, Carol Rosenqvist, Ruby Rhinesmith, Ed Jones and Rob Stoneham.

The state championship will be held in 2 weeks at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, Eatonton, GA.

The trophies were donated by the Sons of the American Legion.

Bobby Gerard, from the Sons of the American Legion, Hiawassee Chapter, presents a check to Towns County 4-H Program Assistant, Norma Flanagan and Shooting Coach Rob Stoneham. This check was donated for trophies the 4-H BB team shooters won at district qualification in Walton County, Monroe, GA.
