Auxiliary holds monthly meeting

On Friday, April 4, 2008, members of Union General Hospital Auxiliary held their monthly meeting at the Union County Nursing Home. President Claudia Parks introduced two special guests, Rebecca T. Dyer, UGH Administrator, and Doug Davenport, UC Nursing Home Administrator. Both spoke to the group, praising them and expressing appreciation for their volunteer services. They also showed a short promotional film about the hospital, nursing home and the Blairsville area. Parks said, "It was apparent that the members truly enjoyed their visit and presentation." The Nursing Home dietary staff served refreshments, which the Auxilians always enjoy.

Also at this meeting the Membership Chairperson, Suzie Thomas proudly announced our newest members: Judy Dombrowski, Patsy Allen and Susan Patterson. These members have completed their 50 hours of training and were awarded their Auxiliary pin, uniform patches, policy handbook and tote bag. Parks commented that, "Each of these ladies felt that they needed to be more involved and to do something to help others and what better way than to help at the hospital and nursing home. So many of us have had parents in nursing homes and know how much the residents appreciate the little extras that the volunteers can give."
