Habitat for Humanity to dedicate 7th house On Saturday April 26th at 2 PM, the community is invited to join in the celebration and dedication of the seventh Habitat house built in Towns/Union Counties. The keys to the house will be handed over to the Bobby Thompson family at that time. The house which was started in December and completed a few weeks ago is ready for the family of six to begin their new life. The family had qualified for the house a year ago but lack of property on which to build postponed the start of the house for about six months. Volunteers from a dozen local churches participated in the build. The new owner, Bobby Thompson, worked many "sweat equity" hours as his part of the down payment. He was present on most Saturdays during the build working side by side with church volunteers. All volunteers, contractors and the community at large is invited to the dedication. The house is located on Pearl Wright Road about eight miles west of Blairsville off Old Blue Ridge Hwy. Land: Habitat for Humanity is still searching for land to build the next house. If you have property which you would like to donate or sell at a reasonable price, contact the Habitat office at 706-379-2484. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to help build the next house, or participate in Habitat's Alternative Gift program, send your donation to Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 270, Young Harris, GA 30582. An "alternative gift", is a gift is in honor or memory of someone. Habitat will send them a card indicating your generosity and will send you your tax deductible receipt. Habitat for Humanity is a nondenominational Christian housing ministry. |
