Pollard wins GAS Series at Peach State Bubba Pollard of Senoia, Ga., took advantage of the bad luck of 2007 Georgia Asphalt Series Champion Russell Fleeman, to win Sunday afternoon's Georgia Asphalt Series - Spring 100. Fleeman set fast time, winning the Sunoco/Bearden Oil Company Pole Award with an 18.035 on the 1/2 mile oval at Peach State Speedway. Fleeman was checking out on the field when he developed a flat tire, sending the #98 car to the pits. Pollard took the lead and took the win. Fleeman returned to the track after changing the flat and battled through the field to a second place finish The only crash of the race occurred on lap 46 when Roger Delp and Kevin Perry got together on the front straightaway, sending both of them hard into the inside retaining wall. Neither driver was able to continue. The GAS Series returns to action this Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson, South Carolina. AMS is located off I-85 at Exit 27 then north on SC 81. Racing begins at 8 p.m. For more information, log onto www.andersonmotorspeedway. com and www.georgiaasphaltseries. com. 2008 Schedule Georgia Asphalt Series 3/29 Peach State Speedway - Bubba Pollard - winner 4/11 - Anderson Motor Speedway 5/3 - Peach State Speedway 6/7 - Watermelon Capital Speedway 6/14 - New Senoia Speedway 7/3 - Peach State Speedway 7/18 - Anderson Motor Speedway 8/2 - Watermelon Capital Speedway 8/16 - New Senoia Speedway 8/30 - Peach State Speedway 9/20 - New Senoia Speedway 10/12 - Peach State Speedway 11/7-11/9 - World Crown Weekend, Peach State Speedway (Non-Points Event) Schedule subject to change without notice. |
