Scholarship Fund established in memory of beloved teacher

Carolyn Collins Kelly
The family and friends of Carolyn Collins Kelly wish to announce the establishment of a scholarship fund in her memory. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a deserving Union County High School Senior who is planning to attend college.

Carolyn was a devoted classroom teacher for thirty-five years, beginning as a high school teacher at Oconee County High School, and then serving thirtythree years as an early childhood educator in the Gwinnett County School System. Ms. Kelly, as she was known to her students, loved children and education. This was never more manifest than over the past year as she fought a brave battle with cancer. Hundred of former students, co-workers and administrators expressed tribute and praise for the role she played in their lives.

Carolyn graduated from Union County High School in 1968, Young Harris College in 1970, and received her Master of Education Degree from the University of Georgia in 1973. She received a Specialist in Education Degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2003. She is the daughter of Clyde and Roma Sue Collins of Blairsville.

Her husband, Bob; son, Collin; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Cory O'Brien along with grandchildren Brody and Ella Carolyn would be honored if you would consider a donation to this worthy cause.

If you are interested in donating to the Carolyn Collins Kelly Scholarship Fund, make your donation to United Community Bank, P.O. Box 398, Blairsville, Ga., 30514. For more information, you may go online to ugacck@aol.com or kelliecollins@ucbi.com.
