Republican Party Ninth District Josh Turner The Ninth District Republican Party will convene in Cleveland, Georgia, on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at White County High School. The delegates and alternates that will attend this event were elected at the individual county GOP conventions earlier this month. Those participating will adopt the 9th District Republican Platform, discuss a number of items for this year's elections, and hear from a number of people, including keynote speaker Congressman Nathan Deal. In addition, delegates from the fifteen counties that make up the Ninth Congressional District will elect delegates and alternates to the Republican National Convention, to be held in St. Paul, Minnesota, in September. This year, the 9th District Committee unanimously chose White County as the site of the 2008 District Convention. White County was an appropriate choice for host county for the District Convention, as the Republican majority continues to increase in White County as it has across the Ninth District over the past four election cycles. The Ninth District is considered the epicenter of the Republican Party and the conservative movement in Georgia for the upcoming election cycle, and has been the topic of national commentary, as it stands as one of the most conservative districts in the nation. The increasing pattern in our region is for independents and conservative Democrats to join Republicans to ensure that our North Georgia conservative values are best represented by elected officials at the local, state, and national levels. The Republican Party is currently the only viable option in North Georgia for commonsense, practical solutions to the problems we are facing today. These values and solutions will be the topic of discussion at the 2008 Road to Victory Banquet, which will take place on Friday, April 18, 2008, at 7:00 PM at Black Bear Dinner Theatre. The banquet will be one of the highlights of the weekend, and confirmed dignitaries in attendance will include State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox (keynote speaker for the evening), Congressman Nathan Deal, DOT Board Chairman Mike Evans, Chairman of the Public Service Commission Chuck Eaton, national commentator and talk radio host Martha Zoller, and numerous State Senators and State Representatives. In addition to current elected officials, many candidates who face opposition in contested primary elections will be on hand, trying to win the vote of the party's core base of support as the 2008 Road to Victory Banquet kicks off the district's election efforts. For more information, or to reserve your tickets to the 2008 Road to Victory Banquet and join the growing conservative majority, contact Ninth District Republican Party Chairman Kevin Harris at (706) 455-9200 or White County Republican Party Chairman Josh Turner at (706) 892-7747. Josh Turner of Cleveland, Georgia, is the Chairman of the White County Republican Party; he is completing his senior year at North Georgia College and State University and will graduate with a bachelor's degree in political science. At the age of 22, Josh is one of the youngest county party chairmen in the state. Additionally, Josh serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Enotah CASA, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a program that provides advocates for abused and neglected children in Juvenile Court deprivation and neglect proceedings. |
