Fishing Tournament to Benefit Library Expansion Furnishings

Friends of the Union County Library will kick off spring with a Benefit Bass Fishing Tournament held on Lake Nottley. Competition will start from the Deaver Town ramp Saturday, April 19 at 7:30 a.m. The tournament will end at 2:00 p.m. with the weigh in and cash prizes awarded on site. Entry fees of $25 per person, two person maximum per boat. Contestants under twelve years of ages fish free.

The tournament will have a 50% payout, with the remainder of the proceeds donated to the Friends of the Library LEAF campaign to aid in furnishing the Union County Library expansion. Initial plans provide payouts for the three top finishing teams teams plus a big fish award which includes a lube oil change donated by High Country Tire and Wheel, a $25 gift certificate from The Crossing and a $25 gift certificate from Lost Creek One Stop. Should the turnout afford, additional places will be paid. The tourney is limited to largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass. Stripers and hybrids will not be allowed at weigh-in. Artificial bait only.

Boats will be limited to five fish, with the highest aggregate weight of live fish being declared winner. Catch and release rules apply and dead fish will carry an eight ounce deduction. Friends of the Union County Library will not be responsible for injury of accidents associated with this tournament.

Contestants under twelve years of age will draw for a rod and reel donated by R.L. Frizzel. Persons or companies wishing to make donations to the tournament or the LEAF campaign are encouraged to do so by contacting Joanne Olson at 706-745-9360.

The rules of the day are to have fun, catch fish, and know you are supporting your library and community. The tournament will be officiated by members of the Blairsville Seniors Bass League, R.L.
