Brownie Troop 1510 happenings
Giant Sleep Over

Brownie Troop 1510 was again on the go March 14, and 15, 2008 as they first went to the Dragonfly Café in Young Harris for an ice cream party that they had to celebrate a very successful Girl Scout Cookies sales this year. The girls then drove to Gainesville where they had supper at Ryan's. Next they went to the new Hall County YMCA building where they had a lock in sleep over with about 180 girl scouts. The Towns County girls were able to swim in one of two pools. One designed for racing and one with water from one inch to four feet deep for children, this pool also had a large circular slide and floating critters for the kids to climb on.

The girls were able to watch a movie, play different games (Twister, jacks, and Candy Land ect.), sing karaoke, and eat pizza. The also took part in a question and answer completion were they could earn prizes. Joy o joy we got to have ice cream sundaes, imagine ice cream twice in one day. Every one finally went to sleep about 2:00 am

Every one was awaken at 6:45 to start cleaning up their section of the gym, getting dressed and eating so we can leave by 8:00 am. We had a very good time but were tired on the way home. AVisit to the Bank

Brownie Troop 1510 enjoyed a visit to Hiawassee Bank in Hiawassee on Friday, March 7. The girls are working on their Penny Power Try-it. Bank personal showed the girls around the bank showing the tellers booths, vaults and the vault for the safety deposit boxes. The bank staff discussed how to set up a savings account with them and how to tell if paper money you receive is counterfeit. The girls asked very good questions about the security of the bank and what type jobs are available and do you have to go to a special school to work in a bank. The bank gave each of the girls a booklet about savings accounts and a pencil.

While at the bank Brownie Troop 1510 along with Brownie Troop253 and the Daisy Troop 1503 helped to set up a display on girl scouting for National Girl Scout Week. Afterwards the three troops posed for a picture as they accepted a check for the Friends of Girl Scouting Campaign. The check will be split equally between the troops for them to help reach their donation goal for the year. The annual Friends & Family Giving Campaign starts in April and goes through May. Donations are used by the council to help furnish forms and supplies, train volunteers, fund projects and much more. If you would like to make a donation to the Friends and Family Campaign please feel free to contact one of the local leaders or the Northeast Girl Scout Council at 906 Interstate Ridge Drive, Suite E, Gainesville, GA 30501; (770) 536-8656 phone or Mrs. K.
