Spring Arts and Crafts Festival and Mountain Gospel Convention

Spring has sprung, the grass has ris

I wonder where the birdies is

Well not exactly. Spring hasn't quite reached us in the North Georgia Mountains, but we are ready for it. And we are ready to celebrate it. This year we will be celebrating in downtown Blairsville at the 2008 Spring Arts and Crafts Festival and Mountain Gospel Convention. This will be a major first time event.

We will have artists, craftsmen, music, music, music, food venders and fun, fun, fun. Local churches will be invited to participate in the Mountain Gospel Convention. We will be celebrating from Courthouse Square to the historic Mock House to the Civic center to Fort Sorghum to City Hall.

We will shout from the rooftops to the major news media in surrounding markets from Ashville to Chattanooga to Atlanta to TV radio and local news press. Come stay with us, come play with us. Join us in celebration.

We will invite local and neighboring Artists and Craftsmen to show us the new things they have been working on this winter. They will amaze us with their talents and imagination to delight our eyes.

They not only will show us they will teach us by demonstrating throughout the celebration so that we too may learn. We may even awaken the sleeping artist within us.

We will invite students from local schools to show the wonderful art they have created. We will award prizes to encourage and nurture the future artists among us.

And, of course, there will be food of all types to delight our tummies. But most of all we intend the downtown Blairsville SPRING ARTS AND CRAFT FESTIVAL and MOUNTAIN GOSPEL CONVENTION to be a delight and awakening to the heart as meaningful as Spring is an awakening to Nature.

Please mark your calendar for May 30 and 31 and plan to join us.

The Downtown Development Authority, the Union County Historical Society, the Union County Chamber of Commerce, the Jaycees, and Grants from the Grass Roots Arts Initiative support this Festival and celebration.
