Learn to make felted flowers The Mountain Arts Association is excited to offer a spring workshop, "Making Felted Flowers." Using luxurious alpaca fiber and the "wet felting" technique, you will have the opportunity to create your own gorgeous felted flowers. Once finished, this unique flower can be used as a special decoration, a unique ornament, or you can simply let your imagination soar as you discover the best way to show off your creativity. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Georgia and will be led by MAA Board Member Holly Hartman-Williams, Fiber and Glass Bead Artist of Blairsville. Holly and her husband, Courtney, are also owners of Lasso the Moon Alpaca Farm in Blairsville, and she has generously agreed to share her expertise as well as supply the alpaca fiber for the flowers. Two sessions will be offered - 9:00 a.m. -- 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. -- 3:00 p.m. You are invited to choose the session that is most convenient for you to attend. You do not have to bring anything to the workshop; all materials will be provided. As a special bonus, immediately after the workshops Holly and MAA Board Member Jackie DeBell will host a Trunk Show featuring their one-of-a-kind glass bead jewelry. To sign up, please e-mail the Mountain Arts Association Office (mma2004@alltel.net) or call the office at 706-896- 9739 and leave a message. There is no charge for this workshop; however, donations to the Mountain Arts Association will be greatly appreciated. |
