RFLTeams Kickoff for 2008 on March 20

The Union County Relay For Life volunteers will be hosting the 2008 kickoff at the North Georgia Technical College in Blairsville on Thursday, March 20th at 5:30 p.m.

The Relay For Life planning committee has selected the "Colors of Hope" as our 2008 theme. "We are looking forward to registering 20 or more teams for the 14th annual Relay For Life which will be held on June 20-21 ," stated Team Recruitment Co- Chair Janet Hartman. Along with Mrs, Hartman, team recruitment co-chair Judy H. Rich has been contacting area churches, businesses, civic groups and families to join in the fight against cancer.

As part of the Kick off on Thursday, the teams will be hearing from "Man to Man" support group facilitator Dick Dillenbeck and Steve Sloan. These volunteers will be sharing their efforts to help men in our communities "fight back" against prostate cancer. In addition to these guest speakers, the Relay For Life planning committee will also be recognizing outstanding efforts from last year's teams and volunteers. American Cancer Society Community Manager Rena Pendley will present AllStar recognitions for the 2007 event. " Recognition will also be given for the 2007 Union County Relay For Life as being one of the top twenty events for community's of our population," stated longtime Relay For Life volunteer Sue Upchurch.
