N. Ga. Force opens season with a win North Georgia Force, age 13 and under travel baseball team, opened their season last week with a win over the Rock Creek Silver Hawks of Dawson County. The game was tied one to one after the first inning, but the Force exploded in the second inning by tacking on six runs. With the exceptional pitching of Clay Burnett (Union County) on the mound, who struck out eight and only walked one, the Force was able to keep the Hawks from scoring again and won the game 11-1. Three Union County players batted 600 to score 5 out of the 11 runs. Head Coach Bob Lee stated, "The team showed good performance on the mound and at the plate. It's a great start for the boys." The North Georgia Force is comprised of players from Fannin County, Union County and Copper Basin, Tennessee. Under the continued leadership of Head Coach Bob Lee, the North Georgia Force has a new lineup this year with the addition of 6 players from Fannin, Union and Copper Basin Middle Schools. Veteran players returning to the team include Jake Lee, Adam Miller, and Todd Patterson from Fannin County Middle School and T Bentley from Union County Middle School. The team is a part of the Lanier Baseball League, which has age groups from 8 years old to 15 years old, playing in the northern part of Georgia.
