The local chapter of AARP has been busy this month with a great program at the Senior Center on February 14th. Robert Brewer was the guest speaker and gave a wonderful and timely powerpoint presentation titled "Conserve Water- Every Drop Counts." Members were given many suggestions for conserving water in and outside of the home, and adding some of the newer water saving appliances and gadgets that are now available. Valentine treats were provided by chapter members at the end of the meeting and 3 new members were welcomed into the chapter.
On February 19th, 4 members attended an all day session of the Legislature at the state capitol sponsored by AARP. Those attending were Ina Kozesky, Shirley Stallings, Lois Looper and Rhetta Grey who is the Legislative Chairman for the local chapter. Visits were arranged with Charles Jenkins, Allan Powell and other local legislators. A very informative and productive day was experienced by those who attended.
The next AARP meeting will be held at the Senior Center in Hiawassee on March 13th. At 1:00 p.m. This is the annual covereddish luncheon held every year shortly before Easter. You are invited to visit and join this active, friendly group.
