Stanley Jack Garland Sr.
Mr. Stanley Jack Garland Sr., 58, of Hoyle King Rd., Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at his home following a brief illness.

Mr. Garland was born Sept. 26, 1949 in Union County, Ga., the son of Grace Bridges Garland and the late Otis Garland. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of the Vietnam War. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Porter Garland. Mr. Garland was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Garland is his mother, Grace Elmore of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Jim Schwalm of Hayesville, N.C.; son, Stanley J. Garland Jr. of Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and H.B. Smith of Oxford, Ga.; aunt, Doris (Mickey) Garland of Cleveland, Ga.; grandchildren, Riley and Tate Schwalm of Hayesville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends

also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 14,

Rev. John King. Pallbearers were Danny Garland, H.B. Smith, Chris Puckett and Jim Schwalm. Interment followed in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the North GA.Honor Guard conducting Military Honors.
