Volunteers Needed for Hospice of NGMC's Camp Braveheart Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) is looking for volunteers to assist with Camp Braveheart held at River Forks Park in Gainesville. Camp Braveheart is an annual fiveday camp designed to address the unique needs and developmental stages of kids and teens who have experienced the death of a loved one. Camp is composed of three sessions: June 16-20, 2008, for elementary school aged participants; July 7-11, 2008, for middle school aged participants; and an October session for high school aged participants. Volunteers are needed to serve in various capacities at the elementary and middle school age camps based on interests and skills. Volunteer opportunities include: "Big Buddies," Food Prep and Food Services. "Big Buddies," similar to summer camp counselors, work directly with and supervise attending "campers;" a five-day commitment is required. The food prep position offers a volunteer the opportunity to coordinate and transport prepared food from various locations around town to camp for snack-time and lunch (a valid drivers license and vehicle required). Finally, the food services position will assist in serving food and cleaning up the food area after meals and snacks. Both the food prep and food services positions are flexible; a volunteer may help for a few hours up to the entire day or camp period. For more information or to register as a volunteer please call Jen Sorrells at 770-533- 8888. All volunteers will be interviewed, and if selected, asked to submit to a criminal background check. |
