Dear Liar opens this Saturday at Peacock Playhouse

Director Edie Kleinpeter is pleased with the production of Dear Liar, the fundraiser for the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville, which will run Saturday, February 23rd and Sunday, February 24th. She said that this is a wonderful opportunity for theatergoers to see another aspect of theater. The production is Readers Theater, but Kleinpeter has included costumes, a set, and movement. Past audiences may remember the popular Love Letters, which starred Steven Jones and Kleinpeter. This time Laurel Adams will join Steven Jones to tell about the long love and friendship between George Bernard Shaw and Mrs. Patrick Campbell, one of the great actresses in the Victorian theater. This relationship is revealed through actual letters written by them and covers a time period from the 1890's to 1939 when Mrs. Campbell died. Kleinpeter said she is thrilled with her two actors. Both are professional actors who are giving their time and talent in support of the amazing theater which serves several counties. Kleinpeter said the chemistry between them is great, and they complement each other very well. Having just returned from a short theater-going trip to New York, Kleinpeter is even more pleased with the high quality performances of her actors. She believes the quality is of Broadway caliber, and that those who come to support the theater will have an enjoyable experience.

Kleinpeter said she hopes people realize the gem they have in this theater and the asset it is to a wide area. Every season, as more theatergoers discover the Peacock, she continually hears, "I never expected a theater as wonderful as this." The playhouse is proud of the productions and plans to continue to present high quality plays this coming season.

The tickets are $10 each and the seating is first come first serve. The tickets will be sold at the door. All profits go to the theater for improvements. The show runs Saturday, February 23rd at 8PM and Sunday the 24th at 2:30. If you would like further information, call the theater at 828-389-8632 or 877-691-9906.
