January Kiwanis recap

Bob Ramay, Campaign Director of the Georgia Mountain Research & Education Center's Community Council, spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Blairsville on Monday Jan 21, and is pictured receiving a $500 check from President Elect, Sonny Mahan. The Community Council supports the GMRE with educational activities for school children, seminars for adults and plant preservation activities.

During the 2006-2007 school year 2175 children participated in seven activities at the Station. These included Johnny Appleseed, Water Quality Field Day, Arbor Day, Giant Cabbage Contest, Birds, Environmental day, and All About Trees, as well as a Water Quality Day Camp during the summer. There were 13 seminars for adults, and a tour of the Station.

The Kiwanis Club of Blairsville is dedicated to serving and supporting young people in the immediate area around Blairsville through numerous projects. The Kiwanis Club meets at the Cobbs Mill Restaurant in Blairsville at 12:00 Noon on each Monday. Come join in the fun with us.
