Free cancer patient program set for Feb. 18

The volunteers with the Union County American Cancer Society have announced the "Look Good Feel Better" program for women cancer patients. The American Cancer Society program is sponsored in cooperation with the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fraqgrance Association Foundation and the National Cosmetology Association.

The program will be held on Monday, Feb. 18th in room 416 of the North Georgia Technical College's Conference Center in Blairsville, Georgia beginning at 2 p.m." S Volunteer program facilitator Regina Garrett will be conducting the session that will focus on makeup application, dryskin, discolored nails, choice & care of wigs, and how to wear scarves , hats or turbans when experiencing the side effects of cancer treatments. Participants must pre-register by calling 1-800-ACS-2345 and request a seat for the Blairsville, Georgia class.

There is no charge for the program . Participants may want to bring a close friend or relative to assist them during the program. Stacy Head, Union County Relay For Life Cancer Survivor Chair, is excited to see this program being offered again for the women in our area. She emphasizes that this is just one more way that the Relay For Life is helping cancer patients and their families with the burden of cancer. She also states that there is no geographical limits as to where cancer patients come from for this class. "So if you know of a female cancer patient in the tri state area who is about to begin cancer treatments or who is currently in treatment , then tell them about this opportunity," she added.
