Women Build kickoff set by Habitat For Humanity
The first Women Build project of Habitat for Humanity Towns/Union Counties, Inc. is under way. A kickoff program is scheduled for February 23, 2008 at 2 pm in the Susan B. Harris chapel of Young Harris College. Cathy Cox, YHC president and former Georgia Secretary of State, will make a welcome statement. All women of the two counties are invited to come.
Women Build is a special program of HFH in which a home is built, not excluding men, but particularly involving women. Benefits to the HFH affiliate are the attraction of new resources and a heightened profile of the ministry in our community. Women who participate find a "comfortable learning environment" in which to learn new skills and make personally satisfying contributions to a family with children in need of affordable housing. This accomplishment also boosts the general standard of living in our area.
Volunteers are sought for all aspects of the current project. Arty Hodgson and Jan Boland, co-captains of the Volunteer Team, urge you to join us in this exciting and rewarding venture. Call Jan at 706- 897-3923 or Habitat for Humanity at 706- 745-2484 (mention Women Build).
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing ministry with the primary goal of providing simple, decent, affordable homes for selected applicants. The prospective homeowners give sweat equity and make a minimal down payment and regular payments on a no-interest mortgage.
