Tax consultant to speak at NARFE

Woodrow (Woody) Bergeron of Bergeron & Maltby Certified Public Accountants will be the Guest Speaker at the February 12 th meeting of the National Active & Retired Federal Employees. The Brasstown Bald chapter of NARFE holds a regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at Grinds-N-Glazes 233 Hwy 515 Blairsville starting at 11:45. All active or retired federal employees, their spouses or survivors, are welcome at all meetings.

The second half of the 110th congressional session convened in mid January to complete legislation carried over from last year. The Senate Subcommittee on Social Security has already held hearings regarding the Repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset which will effect many retired federal employees and their spouses. What is needed now is to contact our Senators and Representatives and urge them to use their influence to get the bill out of committee and on to the floor for a vote.
