Assault on two victims leads to weapons and drugs in Towns

A retired Fulton County Sheriff's Deputy was working in his yard in the Fodder Creek area around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9th when a neighbor came driving at a high rate of speed into his yard. According to statements made by the man, the neighbor then pulled out a .357 Magnum Revolver. The man's wife heard the commotion from inside the home and came out of the house to see what was going on. The suspect placed the gun against the man's forehead, stating that she would kill him. When the victim's wife was spotted by the suspect, she did the same to her.

Alarmed neighbors in the area heard the commotion as well and became concerned for the man and his wife. 911 was called and Sheriff Clinton was directly notified of the situation. Upon arriving on the scene, statements were obtained from the vic- tims and witnesses to what had just happened. Based on the erratic behavior of the woman, arrest and search warrants were obtained.

Sheriff Clinton, two deputies and a DNR agent arrested the subject who was identified as Jolena Nichols. The search warrant was then executed. Drugs were seized including hydrocodone, Ambien and marijuana. Two firearms were also seized.

Nichols charges included; Two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a firearm while committing a felony, two counts of aggravated assault, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, two violations of Georgia Controlled Substance Act for possession of Ambien, a schedule four narcotic, and possession of hydrocodone, a schedule three narcotic. Various traffic related charges were also brought against Nichols.

During the time of the search, another individual, identified as Tony Sims of Gainesville, GA arrived at the residence. He was charged as well. His charges included; violation of Georgia Controlled Substance Act for intent to distribute hydrocodone, and various traffic related charges as well. Both individuals were taken to the Towns County Jail.

"It is our intent to work hard to protect the citizens of this county against drugs and violent crime," stated the sheriff.
