Towns Police and Sheriff's Office join forces to bust burglars

Information was given to Hiawassee Chief of Police Jimmy Wright and Towns County Sheriff' Chris Clinton that led them to a home on Konahetah Road, in Hiawassee late Sunday evening. The information given was concerning stolen items that may be located at the specific residence on Konahetah.

After obtaining a consent to search the residence, detectives and deputies were called to the scene to assist in retrieving stolen items. The items were reported stolen from recent burglaries around the county and from a vehicle theft that occurred around the same time as the burglaries. Items that were retrieved included; Flat screen televisions, tools, movies, cds and other similar items. A glass pipe was also found at the residence that contained suspected methamphetamine residue.

The case is still being investigated and further charges are expected to be brought against the two Hiawassee men that were arrested. In a statement from Sheriff Clinton, he stated, "The case is still under investigation and additional information will be released at a later date."
