Dulcimer Virtuoso at Folk School

Lois Hornbostel - a nationally known performer, author and recording artist - will perform at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24 at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown . Admission is free.

From "down the road" in Cherokee, North Carolina, Lois Hornbostel is one of the country's best known mountain dulcimer performers and teachers. Her repertoire includes old-time fiddle tunes learned from North Carolina string bands, traditional Irish music gleaned from Irish jam sessions in New York City, as well as waltzes and two-steps learned from Cajun musicians in Louisiana. World folk music is another of Ms. Hornbostel's passions, and her first recording Vive Le Dulcimer! was a finalist for an "Indie" award in the World Music category. Ms Hornbostel has also authored a number of instructional books for dulcimer published by Mel Bay Publications.
