Miller sworn in by Gov. Perdue

Murphy Miller of Young Harris was sworn in as the third judge of the Enotah Circuit by Governor Sonny Perdue last week in early morning ceremonies at the State Capitol.

Senior Judge Hugh Stone of Union County presented Miller to the Governor, calling Miller a man of "unquestioned integrity and an outstanding trial lawyer."

In brief remarks to a large group of co-workers, constituents, friends and family, Miller promised to work hard, use common sense, always seek the truth and faithfully uphold the trust placed in him.

The new judge also reminded the audience that the courts include not only judges and lawyers, but clerks, bailiffs, law enforcement, and probation officers, who he called "an essential part of our justice system", and noted "our circuit has outstanding public servants in these roles."

Miller, an attorney since l980, was an administrative law judge for five years in 17 northeast Georgia counties, and more recently was the public defender for the Enotah Judicial Circuit which includes Lumpkin, White, Union and Towns Counties.
