Boys drop two against Dawson and Fannin
Union County now 13-4 and 1-2 in Sub-Region

Michael Ross led Union County with 17 points in a 49- 39 loss at 3rd ranked Fannin County last Friday. The Panthers fell behind early and was never able to find any consistency on offense, going 5-15 from the field and 1-4 from three-point range during the first half. Union also struggled at the foul line, going 0-4 during the first half.Fannin led 12-4 after one quarter and 17-11 at the half. Austin Collins scored seven on Union's eleven first half points.
During the third quarter, Fannin stretched it's lead to seven at 32-25. Ross scored eight of Union's 14 third quarter points and seven of Union's 14 fourth quarter points. The Panthers struggled from the foul line going 3-14 from the charity stripe. Panthers suffer tough loss against Dawson
Union County fell 49-45 to Dawson County on Tuesday and have possibly lost Senior guard Cody Adams for the season with an ankle injury. After leading at halftime, Union was outscored 16-14 in the third and 16-13 in the fourth. Dawson led by six with 1:55 to play when Josh Colwell and Austin Collins each hit a three-pointer and Union found themselves down three, with the ball and :40 remaining in the game. The Panthers had two good looks at a game-tying three but were unable to get either shot to fall. Dawson hit a free-throw with :1.6 left to put the game out of reach for Union County.
Ross led Union with 11 points, Collins had 9, Gowder 8, Burks and Colwell each added 7. The Panthers will look to get back to .500 in the sub-region when they travel to East Jackson on Friday. One more win for the Panthers this season will clinch their 12th consecutive winning season. The girls will tip-off at 7:00 P.M. with the boys game to immediately follow.
