United Daughters of the Confederacy meeting

The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Chapter #2613 Joseph Emerson Brown, began the Christmas season with their monthly meeting at the home of former Confederate Veteran Pvt. Andrew "Polk" Davis. Pvt. Davis built the home in 1906. It is now owned by Justin Turner. Chapter president Janie Turner spoke about the former residents and the history of the home. Further business included the presentation of membership to Wilma Cheek Brown, 93 years young. She shared some of her fondest memories of her grandfather, Elisha Cheek. "Daughters" Louise Brown Little and Reva Brown Jennings are also members of the UDC.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy are pleased to continue the work established by the southern ladies during the War Between the States. Services include, but not limited to, providing support to our troops, maintaining Confederate soldiers' graves and monuments and preserving history.
