State flag to journey across Georgia
By BECKY LANDRESS Sentinel writer

159 counties in three months; that is what one special state flag is going to do. The same flag, not a replica, is being brought to every county in Georgia. Then, a government representative in every county will sign a log book entry. The reason for this is to welcome home the state's namesake submarine to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in March 2008.

The log book entry states, "This is to certify that the Georgia State Flag, officially designated for presentation to USS Georgia at the Return to Service Ceremony on March 28, 2008 was present in Union County, Georgia, on the 3rd day of January, in the year 2008." This entry will go in a binder and be placed on the ship, along with the flag, folded triangularly.

Georgia's governor Sonny Perdue is set to be present and speak at the March 28th ceremony at King's Bay, after the flag has been taken by Navy representatives to each county in the state of Georgia.
