UCB names Officer and Employee of 2007

Sonja Freeman is United Community Bank's 20007 Employee of the Year.

United Community Bank of Union County recently named William Stone the bank's 2007 Officer of the Year, and Sonja Freeman the 2007 Employee of the year. Gene Sprayberry, Executive VP of United Community Bank - Union County, presented the awards to Stone and Freeman at the bank's annual Christmas dinner on December 15th.

Officer and Employee of Year recipients are selected by fellow employees based upon outstanding leadership, loyalty and overall work ethics.

William Stone started with United Community Bank on March 1, 1994 and is currently Senior Vice-President, a position he has held since March, 2005. Stone graduated from the University of Georgia in 1993 and currently is the Vice Chair of Union County Board of Health and a member of the Rotary Club. He has been married to his wife, Gwen, for 15 years and has three children. The Stone family resides in Blairsville. Among the comments Stone received from his peers were: "William is a great asset to UCB - goes the extra mile for his customer as well as his fellow employees." "Works hard to make sure everything operates smoothly; he is loyal to the company and truly cares for everyone he works with."

Sonja Freeman has been with United Community Bank since October 22, 1990 and currently works in the Marketing and Public Relations Department and is employed through Georgia Mountain Community Services. She resides in Blairsville with her parents Joyce and Sonny Freeman. Among the comments received by her peers were: "Sonja is a loving and caring person who takes the job very seriously and is always ready to help. "Sonja's pure heart, sweet spirit and amazing attitude are an example to all of us." "There is no doubt that our lives are richer because of Sonja.
