Drug busts lead to 7 arrests in Towns County

Thursday, December 20 started the action of the Towns County Sheriff's department and Appalachian Drug Task Force. Acting on information from Lieutenant Mark Henderson and probation warrants obtained by the task force, 6 drug offenders were arrested and charged.

Significant amounts of meth-amphetamine, prescription pills and marijuana were confiscated in the bust. Those arrested were: Angela Patton- Goolsby (distribution of meth-amphetamine, possession of meth, and distribution of prescription Lortab.), Larry Shane Riddle (possession of meth-amphetamine, possession of Lortab without prescription, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drugs not in original container and crossing a guard line with drugs.), Ryman Fair III (distribution of meth-amphetamine), Ryman Fair (obstruction), April Silvers (distribution of marijuana), Chris Ledford (misdemeanor possession of marijuana).

Then, on Saturday, December 29, deputies Mark Marshall and Brian Wilson conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, a search was conducted that resulted in the seizure of a quarter pound of marijuana. Adam Teich of Hiawassee was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and felony possession of marijuana.

When asked about the busts that have recently occurred, Sheriff Chris Clinton stated, "I am very proud of the efforts that have been put forth by the deputies."
