Clinton Rally set for Saturday
By MARCI WATSON Sentinel Writer

New York Senator Hillary Clinton's bid for Georgia's vote as Democratic Presidential nominee kicks off this weekend in Blue Ridge, Ga. Called the "30 Day Countdown Rally in Blue Ridge," it marks the 30 days leading up to the Georgia presidential primaries.

On Saturday, January 5, at 2 p.m. local supporters for Hillary Clinton will be gathering at the Blue Ridge Pavilion to hear high-level surrogate speakers on behalf of Senator Clinton's campaign.

According to campaign representative, Beth Stone-Hand, the Clinton campaign has already set up headquarters at the state Democratic building located at 1080 Spring Street in Atlanta in preparation for the February 5 presidential primary date in Georgia.

Saturday's rally in Blue Ridge is expected to draw over 150 people from the Georgia Democratic Ninth District in a show of support for her candidacy.

Although Senator Clinton will not be able to attend Saturday's rally, organizers are expecting several top level Georgia officials to speak for her. Among the speakers scheduled for Saturday are Tommy Irvin, GA Agriculture Commissioner. Former state senator Carol Jackson has been invited, however, at time of press the Fannin Sentinel is unable to confirm her presence or the final roster of speakers.

Attendees will have an opportunity to pick up yard signs and bumper stickers at the rally.

The Blue Ridge Pavilion is located at 9061 Blue Ridge Drive in Blue Ridge. From the intersection of Hwy 515 and Hwy 5, head north on Hwy 5 towards McCaysville. The Pavilion entrance is located between two private residences on the right side of the road just before you get to Mercier's Orchard. Follow the gravel drive up the hill to the Pavilion.

Please keep in mind that the Pavilion is an open-air facility - there will be heaters to keep the crowd warm but organizers suggest attendees dress warmly.

The event will also feature entertainment and light refreshments, including plenty of hot coffee.
