Children say 'thanks' for fire safety lessons

The children at Mountain Learning & Child Care Center would like to thank Forest Rangers T.J. Fiscarelli and Blake Melton for bringing Smokey and their forest fire fighting equipment to the Center. The children learned about fire safety during the month of October and they (at least most of them) loved meeting Smokey in person. We understand that Smokey recently got married and we are looking forward to seeing some new little Smokeys in the future. Please remember that "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires."

Big thanks also goes to Firemen Anthony Olson, Brent Long, Richard Jones, Charlie Ross and to their helper Jeannie Harris and a special thanks to Chico and Romeo for taking time to visit with them and talk about fire safety and to explain all they do in their jobs. The children always look forward to seeing the fire truck and being able to talk with real firemen. They also loved watching Romeo do his tricks of "Stop, Drop and Roll." The children would like to remind friends and family to change the batteries in your smoke alarms or install smoke alarms if you don't have any. Also, have a plan for getting out of your house in case of a fire and have a safe meeting place for your family to go to after they get out. Then practice your plan so that your family will know what to do in case of a fire.
