Misty Mountain Model Railroad The magnificent Misty Mountain Model Railroad is a large "O" gauge train layout 55' X 72' (That's feet, not inches) located in Union County, Georgia. Fourteen different trains run on half mile of track with twelve bridges, four trestles, and fifteen tunnels. The layout represents parts of North Georgia featuring the capitol building in Atlanta, a Victorian train station, Stone Mountain (complete with carvings), Brasstown Valley Resort, the North Georgia Fair with moving carnival rides and a large circuse, and a custom replica of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. All of the northern part of Georgia is represented, including Blairsville and Brasstown Bald. The Misty Mountain Railroad will be open on December 21, 22, 26, 28, and 29 only at 2:00 p.m. On those dates, all proceeds will be donated to the benefit of The Union County Historical Society. Admission is $5.00 per adult, and children under the age of seventeen will be admitted free with a paying adult. GIFT CERTIFICATES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE OLD COURTHOUSE ON THE SQUARE IN BLAIRSVILLE FOR THE ABOVE-MENTIONED DATES. From the town square in Blairsville, go South on 19/129 for approximately 2-1/2 miles. Turn left on Town Creek School Road, just past the BP station (Owltown Grocery). Go East on Town Creek School Road for approximatley 3-1/2 miles to 4381 Misty Mountain Lane on the right. Parking is also available at Misty Mountain Cottages. |
