Walter Bruner Garrett

Mr. Walter Bruner Garrett, 85, of Sawmill Rd., Blairsville, Ga., died Wed., Dec. 5, 2007 in the Life Care Center of Copper Basin following an extended illness.

Mr. Garrett was born Nov. 28, 1922 in Unaka, N.C., the son of the late Hobart R. Garrett and the late Florence Ledford Garrett. Mr. Garrett enjoyed gardening, flowers and anything with being outdoors, but most of all he loved vanilla ice cream. Besides his family, he loved logging and operating a bulldozer. He was preceded in death by daughter, Hazel Aline Garrett; sister, Margaret Garrett; brothers, Edgar, Clyde and David Garrett; and son-in-law, Larry Stanley. Mr. Garrett was a member of the Church of God.

Surviving Mr. Garrett are sonand daughter-in-law, James W. and Marjorie Garrett of Griffin, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary

and Everett Mortimer of Blue Ridge, Ga., Virginia Stanley of Blue Ridge, Gladys and Doyle White of Andrews, N.C., Helen and Alton Boyett of Panama City, Fla., Cassie and Marshall Hewitt of Bellville, Ark.; brothers, Hoby Garrett of Gray Ct., S.C., Oscar Garrett of Ducktown, Tenn., Harold Garrett of Young Harris, Ga.; sister, Maxine Moore of Hemptown, Ga.; thirteen grandchildren, several greatgrandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Special music was presented by the Gospel Echos. Pallbearers were James Garrett, Joel Garrett, Robert White, Matthew White, Dave Moore and Justin Davenport.
