Jackie Grady Abercrombie

Mr. Jackie Grady Abercrombie, 67, of Bonnie Lane, Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 in the Kindred Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness.

Mr. Abercrombie was born May 10, 1940 in Fannin County, Ga., the son of the late Henry Grady Abercrombie and the late Minnie Iowa Chambers Abercrombie. Jackie was a lifelong resident of Union County. He loved life, his family and being around people. Jackie loved fox hunting, which he did since childhood and also enjoyed fishing, camping and just being outdoors. Most of all he loved his church and loved his Lord. Jackie was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Abercrombie is his loving wife of 12 years, Helen Sego Abercrombie of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Tina Abercrombie of Acworth, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Natha and Lee Rivers of Bailey,

Miss.; brother, Jimmy Abercrombie of Blairsville; grandchildren, Chris and Tyler Abercrombie, Robby and Caleb Rivers, Lindsey McNeel, Robbin Abercrombie and Britney Newsome; great grandchildren, Ethan and Erin Rivers and Holden McNeel; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Cotton Harris and Rev. Vernon Davenport officiating. Special music was presented by the Bethlehem Church Choir. Pallbearers were Kevin Newsome, Robby Rivers, Lee Rivers, Richard Tanner, Stevie Abercrombie and Jim Abercrombie. Interment followed in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
