Hearing that the Union County Food Pantry was low on canned goods, Blairsville's Boy Scout Troop 101 took action to help turn things around. The Scouts teamed up with Brenda Reed, store manager of the Blairsville's Bi- Lo grocery store, to solicit needed food items and donations. The Scouts worked Saturday afternoon at the grocery store explaining to customers the need for canned goods to help the households in Union County that are unable to afford food due to emergency situations. The Scouts did a tremendous job filling their "Turn Hunger into Hope" box and receiving cash donations. The Scouts would like to thank the Union County community for their contributions to the Union County Food Pantry and to Brenda Reed and Bi-Lo grocery store for their assistance. Food items and donations are still being accepted at the store.
Boy Scout Troop 101 invites young men ages 11 - 17 in Union County to find out more about Scouting by visiting www.scouting.org and then visiting one of the our troop meetings.
