Lady Panthers beat up on Banks
Williams scores 20 or more for the fourth time this season

Despite playing without Kayla Gowder, The Lady Panthers (5-1 / 1-0) jumped out to an early 12-5 lead and their was no looking back. The Junior guard tandem of Sarah Fulghum and Candace Williams combined for 11 of Union's 12 first quarter points. In the second quarter, the Lady Panthers continued to pull away and held a 26-14 lead at halftime. Williams led all scorers with 11 first half points, Fulghum had 9 points, Bittenbinder and Whitney Kelley each had 3 at halftime.

During the third quarter, six different Lady Panthers scored for Coach West's squad. The balanced scoring output allowed Union to open up a 42-26 lead in the final seconds of the third quarter. Williams led Union with 5 third quarter points. Sullivan had 3, Odom, Kelley, Edmondson, and Bittenbinder each added 2.

During the fourth quarter Williams scored 8 points, Fulghum and Bittinbinder each had 3. Odom and Kelley also added 2 poinys each. Union went up by 21 on an Odom basket with 4:27 to play in the game and Banks would never get within 20 again.

The Lady Panthers host Lumpkin on Friday. The good news: Union beat Lumpkin 46- 39 last month. The bad: Union will be without second leading scorer Kayla Gowder for one more game.
