Carl Herbert Matthes

Mr. Carl Herbert Matthes, 72, of Blairsville, Ga., died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, N.C.

Mr. Matthes was born Saturday, December 29, 1934 in LaGloria, Cuba, a son of the late Roland Wolfgang Matthes and the late Edith Croft Matthes. He had lived in this area for the past four years, moving here from Lakeland, Fla.

Survivors include his sister, Barbara Alderman of Blairsville; and brother, Richard Matthes, of Whittier, North Carolina.

Memorial services were held Thursday, November 29, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Mulberry United Methodist Church in Mulberry, Fla., with Rev. Val Hattery officiating. Music will be provided by Laurie Hurst, Jeannetta Joiner, and George Hatch. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow, Fla.
