Blue Ridge Rounders concert November 30

The Blue Ridge Rounders. Back row: Dan Wood, Bob Buckingham, Josh Johnson; Front: Amy Buckingham.
The Blue Ridge Rounders will perform old time music at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, N.C., at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30 following a public exhibition of Folk School student crafts from 6:40 - 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room, where the concert will be also held.

The Blue Ridge Rounders of the Dark Corner of South Carolina have traversed the region winning band and individual music contests through- out the Carolinas including the 2006 North Carolina State Fair Old Time Band Contest. Formed in 2002, the band released their first CD in June 2006 and are currently preparing a follow up release.

"The Rounders are not only exceptional instrumentalists, but really fine singers to boot. They present a wider range of old time music than most bands these days - everything from unaccompanied ballads and gospel to blues to early bluegrass. Dan Wood is an exceptional MC and all four have a nice, relaxed and humorous stage presence - the audience at Stecoah Center last summer loved their show and rightly gave them a standing ovation," said Bob Dalsemer, Folk School Music Coordinator..

Band members are Bob Buckingham, fiddle and mandolin, Amy Buckingham, guitar, Josh Johnson, banjo and Dan Wood, bass.

The final Folk School Friday concert for this year will be The Brasstown Ringers (Dec. 7). Concerts will resume January 11. The Folk School concert schedule is available on the website at http://www.folkschool.org. For further information call the Folk School at 828-837-2775 or 1-800-FOLK-SCH.
