BRMEMC Masters Tourn. Chatuge Shores Golf Course in Hayesville, N.C., hosted the annual Blue Ridge Mountain EMC Masters junior golf tournament. The event was the sixth tour stop of The Ridges Junior Golf Tour. Candace Lee with Blue Ridge Mountain EMC was on hand for the event and welcomed the players to Chatuge Shores Golf Course. Before taking to the links, the players had complementary driving range warm up time thanks to the Electric Membership Corporation. This was the EMC's fourth time to host the event and the weather cooperated much better than 2006 when a storm rolled through the area producing hail and cold temperatures. This year the weather was perfect for the junior players to shoot low scores and have a great time. The Tri-County Junior Golf Association thanks Blue Ridge Mountain EMC for their continued involvement in junior golf and the active role the EMC plays in supporting the youth in the tri-county area. The girls' divisions saw the continued winning form of the Martin sisters from Cherokee County, N.C.. Mia Manto from Towns County won for the second time. Morgan Bentley from Union County shot a 48 for the nine holes - her first score ever below fifty - was extremely relieved to be able to break the magical fifty stroke barrier that had been eluding her this year. Morgan said that her next goal is to lower her average score to in the mid forties from her current average of 51. Players of the boys' divisions finishing with trophies for the first time were: Nicholas McConnell-Towns County (Richard McConnell, Nicholas's father, who works for the EMC and was on hand to witness his son's performance), Daniel Kumler-Union County, Conner Davis - Clay County, Grayson Waller from Union County, and Luke Crumley - White County. Eli Crumley - White County shot the best score of the season for the 11-12 boys division with a 37 on nine holes. This week's tournament was special because every county represented in The Ridges Junior Tour had a winner. Clay County led with the most winners at 10, followed by Union County with 8, Cherokee County, N.C. with 6, Towns County with 5, and White, Fannin, and Cherokee Counties all with 1 winner each.
