Jesse Gilbert Nichols

Mr. Jesse Gilbert Nichols, 71, of Blairsville, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Nichols was born April 26, 1936 in Union County, the son of the late George D. Nichols and the late Ruby Farrow Nichols. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bob, Johnny and Alvin Nichols; sisters, Hazel Bruce and Althea Johnson; grandchildren, Dwight and Dwayne Wise. Mr. Nichols was a member of New Union Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Nichols are daughter and son-in-law, Coletta and Terry Plott of Blairsville; son, Jesse Ivan Nichols of Blairsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Pat

Nichols of Blairsville, Bill and Sue Nichols of Blairsville, Dee and Layla Nichols of Detroit, Mich.; sister, Helen Malone of Ky.; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at 4 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. Don Hood officiating. Special music was presented by the Gerald Heaton Family. Pallbearers were Dwain Brackett, Johnny Crisson, Jerry Plott, Doug Hughes, Steve Pruitt and Robert Bridges. Interment followed in the New Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
