Road to Recovery

Are you a cancer patient? Do you need a ride to and from your treatment sessions? A lack of transportation should not be the reason why cancer patients do not receive the life-saving cancer treatment they need. The American Cancer Society offers their Road to Recovery program to help transport cancer patients to and from their treatment. The Society has a tollfree number that you may call, and an operator will put you in touch with local volunteers that give cancer patients without personal transportation rides to and from their cancer treatment sessions. Bereavement Support Group

Welcome to a community bereavement support group. A place to share your thoughts and feelings and grow together with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

GWRRA meets

Chapter J of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) meets the third Saturday of each month at Daniel's Steak House in Hiawassee. Lunch is at 11 a.m. and the meeting is at noon.

We encourage current members of the GWRRA and anyone interested in becoming a member to join us. Guests are always welcome, and we look forward to seeing participants from other chapters. 2007 Winter Baseball Hitting & Pitching Camp @ Young Harris College

Dates just announced for two baseball camps this December at YHC. Camp #1: On December 26th a one day ELITE camp is being offered to players ages 8-12. Time: 11-3pm. Fee: $45 early registration / $55 after December 20th. Camp #2: On December 27th & 28th a two day ELITE camp is being offered to players ages 13-17. Time: 11-3 daily. Fee: $90 early registration / $100 after December 20th. Campers will choose either hitting or pitching for their specialized instruction throughout the duration of the camp. All players will receive an individualized DVD of instruction received. These camps are both designed for experienced players. Memorial Candle Lighting

There will be a memorial candle lighting vigil sponsored by "The Compassionate Friends" in memory of all children that have died. It will be held at the Union County Courthouse in Blairsville on Sunday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m.

Upward Indoor Soccer Registration

Pastor Jerry Helton and Upward Sports Director Lee Baenninger of House of Prayer Interdenominational Church of Blairsville would like to extend an invitation to children grades K - 6 to join the Upward Indoor Soccer League which will begin January 2008.

Evaluations will be held at the House of Prayer Family Life Center between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on December 3, 4 & 6 to determine each child's individual skill levels. Practices will begin the week of January 7 and games will be held January 26. At Upward, all children have equal play time and are matched against children of similar ability.

Regency Hospice Announces Christmas Activities

Come and join us on Wednesday, December 5 from 1p.m. - 4 p.m. for Christmas Tea at Elese Senior Independent Living Community in Hiawassee, Ga. Take Hwy. 76 east to Shake Rag Road, turn left by Parker Oil, turn left on Birch Rd. The apartments easily seen from road. Bring a favorite recipe typed to share with others. Refreshments will be provided by Elese and Regency. Come dressed festive for this time together. Re-living favorite Holiday customs or bouts of yuletide singing may erupt.

Diamond Club Cookout

The Union County Diamond Club will be selling grilled hamburger and hot dog plates, during the Christmas Parade on Dec 1.

Come by and lets us fix your dinner while you watch the parade. We will be in front of the Flower Garden. All proceeds go to support the UCHS Panther Baseball.

Winter Tennis Camp at YHC

The Young Harris College women's tennis team is hosting a winter tennis camp! Head coach Alli Hillman, along with the YHC team will be instructing tennis players of ALL levels. Silent Auction to be held at Primary School, Nov 26 - Dec 1

The Union County Primary School will be having a Silent Auction the week of November 26th - December 1. There will be golf packages, game baskets, cooking baskets, homemade baskets, and many, many more of all kinds The final bidding will end at 6:00 on December 1 during the PTO Family Fun Night.
