Nellie Ruth Shepherd

Mrs. Nellie Ruth Shepherd, 86, of Wesley Mtn. Drive, Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 in the Life Care Center of Ducktown, Tenn., following an extended illness.

Mrs. Shepherd was born Feb. 3, 1921 in Athens, Ga., the daughter of the late Goodman Brackett and the late Emma Galloway Brackett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Shepherd in 1995; son, Johnny Shepherd in 2005; brothers, Neil, Harris and Darwin Brackett.

Surviving Mrs. Shepherd are daughter and son-in-law, Lynn B. and Sheridan Chambers of Murphy, N.C.; granddaughters, Christina Chambers, Joy Shepherd, Angie Worley and Lisa Kay; grandsons, Michael Chambers and Colby Shepherd; great-grandsons, Waylon

Rete and Kaleb Kay; sister-in-law, Mattie Brackett (who was like a sister); nephew, Ricky Harkins; daughter-in-law, Shirley Shepherd; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James T. Paul officiating. Special music was presented by U.E. and Dorothy Sampson. Pallbearers were Sheridan Chambers, Michael Chambers, Ricky Harkins, Dalton Kay, Colby Shepherd and Larry Helton. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
