Anthony Lanier Dillinger

Mr. Anthony (Tony) Lanier Dillinger, 60, of the Blue Ridge Hwy., Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 in the Northeast Ga.Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Dillinger was born Feb. 8, 1947 in Towns County, Ga., the son of the late Albert Dillinger and the late Hazel Hutson Dillinger. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. He was employed with the Colwell Construction Co./Vulcan for over 38 years. Tony enjoyed living life to the fullest. He was very close to his family and loved to work in his garden and just being outdoors. He had a keen since of community and truly loved his grandboys, family and neighbors. Lending a helping hand was something he was accustomed to. Riding motorcycles, fishing, gardening with family and friends, watching his rowdy grandboys play and simply going for a Sunday drive would find him at his happiest. Tony was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Dillinger is daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Casey Jones of Cisco, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Ronald West of Ellijay, Ga.,

Buffy and Kevin Chapman of Blairsville, Barbara and Nulion Towe of Blairsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dallas and Renee Dillinger of Sparta, Tenn., Junior and Debbie Dillinger of Blue Ridge, Bruce Dillinger of Blairsville; grandchildren, Hayden and Holden Jones; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chester Jones and Rev. Kevin Chapman officiating. Special music was presented by Elizabeth Plott and the Dillinger Family. Pallbearers were Ernest Garrett, Johnny Smith, Sonny Freeman, James Burrell, Terry Burrell and David Abercrombie. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Bergan, Austin and Alvin Towe, Shane Towe, Chris Busbee, Derick Dillinger, Jamey Mull, Richard York, Jeff Queen, Grant Hyatt and Josh Bergan. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of the arrangements.
