Towns Sheriff race- a runoff

Former Sheriff Rudy Roach and Chris Clinton are still in the race in Towns County to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff Rudy Eller, who was forced to resign earlier this summer, having been charged with impeding an investigation, making false statements and violating his oath of office.

Clinton was high vote getter on Tuesday garnering almost a third of the 3,900 votes cast in the six-man race. Roach came in second with just over 1,000 votes, and the remaining third of votes was split among the other four candidates.

Voter turnout in this special election was just over 55 percent.

The run off election is set for December 4th.
