Identity theft issue presented to Rotary
Georgia ranked number 10 in the nation for identity theft

Bob Levy of Blairsville speaks to the Rotary Club.
Bob Levy of Blairsville recently spoke to the Union County Rotary Club about a growing problem that everyone should be aware of. Identity Theft.

Bob is a Senior Vice President with Pre Paid Legal Services. The company has been around for the past 35 years.

Bob advised the club members to be wary of online scams, especially the ones that try to solicit your information online pretending to be your bank or some official government agency. Use common sense and don't give your information away to just anyone.

Georgia is ranked number 10 in the nation for identity theft.

Each year, according to the federal trade commission, 10 million people fall victim to identity theft. That averages out to be about 27,000 people every day just here in the United States.

Bob stated that less than 5 percent of identity theft criminals are caught.

Be careful with your credit card and driver's license information.

The Rotary Club of Union County has special guest speakers every week with a wide variety of interesting topics covering local, state, national, and international subjects.

The Rotary Club of Union County meets every Thursday at Cobb's Mill Restaurant in Blairsville.
