Road to Recovery

Are you a cancer patient? Do you need a ride to and from your treatment sessions? A lack of transportation should not be the reason why cancer patients do not receive the life-saving cancer treatment they need. The American Cancer Society offers their Road to Recovery program to help transport cancer patients to and from their treatment. The Society has a toll-free number that you may call, and an operator will put you in touch with local volunteers that give cancer patients without personal transportation rides to and from their cancer treatment sessions. Bereavement Support Group

Welcome to a community bereavement support group. A place to share your thoughts and feelings and grow together with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

GWRRA meets

Chapter J of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) meets the third Saturday of each month at Daniel's Steak House in Hiawassee. Lunch is at 11 a.m. and the meeting is at noon.

We encourage current members of the GWRRA and anyone interested in becoming a member to join us. Guests are always welcome, and we look forward to seeing participants from other chapters. UCIG Fall Festival - Call For Vendors

Union County Interagency Group (UCIG) will be holding its Fall Festival of Community Services on Saturday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church in Blairsville. UCIG is comprised of various agencies, civic groups, businesses, ministries and individuals interested in making comprehensive service information and resources on health, education and well-being available to all citizens of Union County.

New Cancer Support Group

Political Action Group

Hometown Halloween on the Square

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 31, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and be on the square in Downtown Blairsville.

The Downtown Development Authority and The Union County Historical Society are once again sponsoring this old fashioned community event that features a costume contest, storytelling, children's games and activities and plenty of fun. Over 70 businesses, individuals and civic groups will be giving out candy throughout the perimeter of the square to ensure no child goes home empty handed.

Area restaurants will be offering "Halloween Dinner Specials" and the square will be closed to traffic so families can plan on spending a fun filled and safe night in the downtown area.

New Class for Look Good, Feel Better is Scheduled

The Look Good, Feel Better class is a free program for women in cancer treatment sponsored by the American Cancer Society. This program will be held on Tuesday, October 30 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Riverstone Medical Complex in Blue Ridge, Ga. This building is located behind the Ingle's Shopping Center.
